Redeeming Your Time

                                                                                  Redeeming Your Time

Can you imagine how foolish it would be to throw $1000 bills into the Mississippi river or to drop diamonds into a septic tank? If so, perhaps you can understand how foolish it is for us to waste our time. Every time the sun rises, God has placed another 24 hours at our disposal.

Psalm 90:10 says, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Statistics tell us that, on average, people spend 6 months of their life worshiping God. Six years are spent eating. Nine years are spent working. They spend 23 years sleeping. It is strange that our Christian friends sometimes say, “I wish I had more time to read the Bible, pray, and serve God.” They have it! We never need to be so busy that we don’t have time to spend with God and serve him.

We dare not forget that the time will come when we will stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give account for what we have done with what God has given us. II Corinthians 5:10 says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” It is almost certain that we will be judged for the way we used our time.

My friend, we go through this life just once. We need to do all we can to make it profitable. We are surrounded by others. We should be ready to give them a smile and share with them the good news of salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We should also be helping and encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s do all the good we can, while we can. It’s not just a question of how many years we have in this life, but how we invest our life in the years we have. II Corinthians 9:6 says, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
