Globalization is an attempt by world leaders to organize all of humanity in one global community.  It is an attempt to discourage and eliminate nationalism and encourage people to see themselves as part of a global community.  It is a subject that frequently appears in the media and in literature.  It is frequently discussed when world leaders get together.  We as God’s people need to ask ourselves whether God puts his approval on globalization.

Bible reading Christians are aware of the fact that prophecy tells us that there will be something similar to globalization in the last days.  We read that there will be a man who will rule over the world.  He is given various names in the Bible.  In I John 2:18  he is called “Antichrist.”  “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” In II Thessalonians 2:3-4 he is called “the man of sin.” “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;   Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” In Revelation 13:1-3 he is called The beast. “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.  And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.    And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.  Verse 3 says “all the world wondered after the beast.”  The word “wondered” in the Greek means to have admiration for.  That makes him a world leader.  Globalization implies that there will be a world leader.

When we arrive at Revelation 13:5-6, we learn that the beast blasphemed against God.  “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.   And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.”   If this speaks of globalization, it should tell us Christians that it isn’t anything we should put our approval on.

The fact that God tells us that something is going to come to pass doesn’t mean that he puts his approval on it.  Some might ask, if God is sovereign, why does he allow something to come to pass that he can’t approve of?  Yes, God is sovereign, but he has given man free will.  That means they can reject God and refuse to do his will.  That allows some terrible things to come to pass.  Men have to learn from their awful mistakes.  God is also all knowing.  He knows what is going to come to pass in the future.  In his Word he has revealed to us some of what will come to pass in the future.

It is very possible that what God tells us about this wicked world ruler is a prophecy  of globalization. Modern men are sufficiently ignorant to think they can bring about universal peace and prosperity without making a change in the sinful nature of men.  Isaiah 57:21 says, “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”  The rule of a world dictator will be tyrannical.  What world leaders envision is a world controlled by the United Nations.  They have in place the “International Monetary Fund” (I.F.M.) to supposedly have a one world currency.  They also have the N.A.T.O.  That stands for the North Atlantic Treaty organization.  Its function is to stop aggression of one nation against another.  It all appears good in theory, but it won’t be feasible until the whole world is willing to submit to a world dictator.

In the end, God will have the victory.  In Revelation 19:11 we read of how Christ will come riding on a white horse.  Verse 14 says the armies that are in heaven will follow him.  In verses 19-20 we read that the beast and the kings of the earth will make war with Christ and his armies.  The end result is that the beast and the false prophet will be cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Prophecy also tells us that there will be a world kingdom, but only after Christ, the prince of Peace is come.  In Revelation 20:4 we read of the glorious reign of Christ.  “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”  Christ will accomplish what the kings of the earth attempted to do and failed.
